Create a video, maximum 60 seconds in length, that comprehensively and concisely communicates the motivation, usage, and functionality of the LoseIt mobile app. Use videography principles and techniques to develop a scenario for the demo, sketch out a storyboard for the video, shoot, edit and package it.
LoseIt is a tool for reaching weight loss goals. The app tracks meals, exercise, and nutrition. Food documentation is effortless with built-in barcode scanner, searchable list of common grocery items, and database of popular restaurant meals' nutrition facts.
The scenario I came up with for this video demo is inspired by LoseIt's main functionality of helping users document food consumption and nutrition in order to help them lose weight.
I've just been proposed to and now want to lose weight to reach my dream wedding weight goal. I share the excitement of wedding bliss and concern of weight loss goals with my friend who recommends downloading and using LoseIt to monitor and manage my food intake. I use LoseIt's built-in barcode scanner to document my food calories and nutrition.
Below is an image of the scenario converted into a storyboard.
WHAT WORKED WELL
Besides the heartfelt and feel-good emotions provoked by the scenario, my viewers liked the various camera angles of the video, smooth transitions, and video stability.
Based on feedback from peers, if I were to redo this project, I would consider implementing the following changes:
EFFECTIVENESS OF SCENARIO
My peers liked the scenario because it was realistic, relatable, and entertaining. One of my viewers indicated that many recently proposed women feel the need to lose weight for a wedding, so my scenario captured the problem very well.
Overall, I think the scenario was an effective way to present the barcode scan functionality of the LoseIt app, but I agree that it didn't demonstrate all of the app's features. Next time, I would record a clearer view of the app interface to at least show of the other app features.
